IFMR is guided by an eminent Board of Governors comprised of senior leaders from major corporations and respected academicians. The Board is headed by Padma Bhushan Mr N. Vaghul, ex-Chairman, ICICI Bank, and also includes Prof.T.N.Srinivasan, Emeritus Samuel C.Park, Jr.Professor of Economics at Yale University, who served as a special advisor to the World Bank.

Over a period of 47 years, IFMR has been working in the areas of management, development, economics and public policy through its carefully built research eco-system. While initially envisaged as a researched and training institute, IFMR matured into a full-fledged business school in 2000. IFMR is fortunate to have pre-eminent faculty members, most of whom have Ph.Ds from well-known institutions in India and the United States. They have worked and consulted with both national and international organisations.
Also, IFMR has strengthened its research functions with specific centers setup with mandates for research in niche areas. Within the IFMR eco-system lay a number of distinct but co-dependent think-tanks namely IFMR Lead, Centre for Digital Financial Inclusion (CDFI), CATALYST and Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL South Asia). Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is the flagship programme of IFMR Business School.
IFMR’s full-time PGDM programme provides quality management education with a strong foundation in Finance. This intensive 2-year AICTE approved programme is now into its 16th year, and has clearly met the expectations of its various stake-holders.
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY
The objective of the Ph.D programme at IFMR is to train young scholars so as to enable them to make a difference in academic research and in the corporate sector.
The Ph.D programme at IFMR is a highly rigorous one with focus on various research areas like asset pricing, derivatives, corporate governance, development economics, macro economics, financial reporting, international Financial reporting standards and so on.
IFMR has recently received the letter of intent from the Andhra Pradesh State government for a Private University. The University will house two schools viz., School of Management and School of Social Sciences.
With its strong eco-system, extensive infrastructure, experience in diversified field projects numbering more than hundred, rich data sets, practical caselets and live internship opportunities – IFMR offers Post-Graduate programs in Social Sciences as well as Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate Programs in Management. IFMR’s courses will have strong conceptual orientation and practical exposure with field based components.

IFMR LEAD is a non-profit research organization conducting high-quality policy-oriented and action-oriented research in development economics and finance. It is dedicated to leveraging evidence-based research to further sustainable development in India and other low-to-middle income countries.
The CDFI is housed within the Institute for Financial Management and Research, IFMR, which is a not for profit Society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The Centre is headed by an Executive Director.
Inclusive Cashless Payment Partnership, housed in IFMR LEAD, is an initiative seeded by an alliance between the Government of India & USAID, to to significantly expand and accelerate the use of digital payments by low income consumers and merchants across India.
J-PAL South Asia is based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in Chennai. It was established in 2007, with generous support from the Mulago Foundation, to manage J-PAL’s growing partnerships in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
